Welcome

Alumni associations are, unfortunately, not a major part of Indian college culture nor are they great contributors to their respective alma maters. A break from this, rather dubious, field is the St. Berchmans' and Assumption Colleges Alumni Association of North America based in New York.

This Alumni association has the unique distinction of being the first Alumni association of these two colleges outside of India. It was founded in 1988 and its founding president was Dr. Emmanuel Thomas.

The seed he planted, with the able assistance of the Late Mr. Mathew Koshy, Rev. Fr. Mathew Punchayil and Mr. Babu Thomas Edanattu, among so many distinguished others, has now grown into one of the more active alumni associations in North America.

Its main purpose is to build and sustain a lifelong relationship between the colleges and its alumni. It is nice to learn that following the enthusiasm of this association several similar associations with similar goals have formed in many other cities in the United States.

St. Berchmans' and Assumption colleges have been committed to inspiring its students to attain nobility through compassion, strength of character, and dedication to the service to fellow human beings; and achievement of excellence in all walks of life.

As former students of these two colleges, we are proud to acclaim that we follow the same mission of the colleges in all our activities. Out of the gratitude for the education received at St. Berchmans' and Assumption Colleges, the Alumni Association is committed to continuous improvement of educational processes through its support to the colleges.

This association promotes a meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas between the colleges and its alumni. Through the diverse programs of volunteer services (lectures) and financial assistance (the first internet facility of its kind in Kerala, the fashion design institute, scholarships and noon-meal programs), this association is committed to strengthening alumni relations in support of the missions of both colleges.
